Moreover, local ecotourism stakeholders and tourists themselves are invited to adopt an approach of solidarity and sharing, in order to ensure the sustainability of the eco-tourist activity and this in conformity with existing standards, including the charter of the Road of Majhoul ecotourism ethics regarding the oases and the desert of Tafilalet. [blockquote width=’100′] The Ecotourist Charter of Ethics of the road of Majhoul is put at the disposal of stakeholders in order to structure the tourist product of the Road of Majhoul. [/blockquote]

The activity of ecotourism in oases must be specific and be based on the principles and values of the Road of the Majhoul’s Ethical Ecotourism Charter. It must adapt to the site and the different circumstances of reception areas, in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. For the implementation and structuring of tourism products of the Road of Majhoul, stakeholders are called to share the same vision and the same goals.[two_columns_66_33] [column1] The charter is a unifying tool embodying the commitment of all stakeholders to establish an ecotourist destination in Tafilalet. For that, the APECTAF plays an important role in accompanying the execution and appliance of the Charter in its implementation and monitoring of actions initiated according to its principles and to promote the Road to Majhoul as a flagship product of tourism in Tafilalet. This tourist positioning engages these actors in a process of gradual and structured quality aiming at establishing the fundamentals of a future territorial label showcasing the natural, human and cultural potentials of Tafilalet in a coherent framework that is part of the sustainable development process.[/column1] [column2] [/column2] [/two_columns_66_33] [/action] [separator color=’white’ thickness=” up=’20’ down=’20’] [two_columns_66_33] [column1] [accordion accordion_type=’accordion’] [accordion_item caption=”What is the audience of this guide?”] This guide addresses all stakeholders in the territory of the Road of Majhoul (local population, holders of tourist projects, cooperatives, development and tourists associations, etc). It helps on the one hand in making choices in terms of quality, sustainability, reliability, responsibility and respect for the environment of oases to show “a better quality” of the destination of the Road of Majhoul, and on the other hand, it accompanies these actors in their concrete implementation of the best practices of the ecotourist ethics.[/accordion_item] [accordion_item caption=”Objectives of the Guide”] *Preserving the territory, its resources, its heritage, its know-how, and its local populations. **Highlighting the territory, its resources, assets, know-how, local populations through organized and structured products, but also a good networking of all the stakeholders. ***Promoting this approach, the territory and its products by providing information on this innovative approach in Morocco and on each stage and action on the POT project over the next 5 years.. [/accordion_item] [accordion_item caption=”A tourism that contributes to the economic development of communities”] The ecotourism is a potential future for the Tafilalet region, it is an alternative for the economic development through its territorial coverage, its environmental component, recreational activities of the desert, it is naturally associated to the sustainable development. The ecotourism reception, in economic environment, mainly in agriculture (local produce) and crafts is based on a varied range of activities, accommodation and food which contribute to the development of the oases, alongside other activities, the perspective of the Road of Majhoul as flagship product of the Tafilalet region which has promising opportunities for local development.[/accordion_item] [accordion_item caption=”For an autonomy of local communities in the management of ecotourism projects”]One of the most important objectives of this ecotourism project of the Road of Majhoul is the willingness to train local communities to become ultimately autonomous in the daily management of ecotourism activities. This involves training activities to welcome tourists, commercializing local products and promoting and developing local heritage. The APECTAF, with the collaboration of its partners, strives for the organization of continuous training sessions for holders of tourist projects regarding the road of Majhoul which purpose is to ensure the sustainability of these tourist projects which are diversified and a vector of local development.
[/accordion_item] [accordion_item caption=”A tourism that contributes to the enhancement of cultural heritage”] The cultural heritage is a historical legacy to preserve, an identity vector, an element of life quality and a valuable resource for economic purposes for the development of ecotourism. These values are challenges in terms of ecotourism development policy of the Road of Majhoul:

  • – The cultural and architectural heritage (exceptional ksours and kasbahs) of the Tafilalet region contributes to the overall attractiveness of the area .
  • – The local stakeholders and the population are aware of their collective responsibility for the preservation of this heritage, be it tangible or intangible.

It is thus important to gradually prepare communities for the development of tourism in Tafilalet and for the increase of visits from in villages by foreigners and contribute to the preservation of cultural identities as well as the social order and the creation of new activities related to ecotourism and the enhancement of the architectural heritage of the Tafilalet oasis . [/accordion_item] [accordion_item caption=”A tourism that contributes to the protection of the environment”] The natural heritage is an excellent lever for the development of tourism, that is why it is important to ensure a balanced ecotourism development,

  • – the promotion of economic activities that respect the environment: the integration of cooperatives and the holders of ecotourism projects in the network of ecotourism of the Road of Majhoul ( APECTAF ) to meet a growing demand for “natural” products.
  • – Spread of know-how: The APECTAF ensures the transfer of knowledge and expertise allowing the integration of new skills into the rational management of the environment and resources.
  • – the enhancement of agriculture by promoting less polluting agricultural practices or using fewer inputs , encouraging organic farming and dynamic management of settlement by stimulating alternative products ( medicinal, officinal and aromatic plants, berries , honey , etc . ).
