[accordion accordion_type=’toggle’] [accordion_item caption=”Jour par jour]ArPremier jour :  Arrivée à l’aéroport de Fès Saïss (en fin de matinée)  et transfert à travers le Moyen Atlas jusqu’à Midelt. [accordion_item caption=”Second day : Sources in Oasis”] From Midelt,Deuxième jour : des sources aux oasistalDe Midelt, on franchit le Haut Atlas Oriental au col de Tamghart. A partir du sommet en voie de reboisement, on descend par paliers vers le désert. Une première étape à la Zaouïa Sidi Hamza (fondée en 1635) :  C’était une des capitales intellectuelles de la grande confrérie de Dilaïtes. Visite de la bibliothèque ancienne (1200 ouvrages)   et des sources de l’oued du même nom, l’un des affluents importants du Ziz. Reprise du minibus et arrivée pour le repas aux gîtes des gorges du Ziz. L’après-midi, marche facile le long de l’oued puis à travers les jardins vers les ksour d’Ifri et Aït Athmane (environ 3 heures). Transfert de Aït Athmane à Errachidia (vue magnifique sur le lac et le barrage) ou à Zouala  pour le dîner et la nuit. :ernoon, easy walk along the river and through the gardens to Ifri and Aït Athman ksours (about 3 hours).
– Transfer from Aït Athman Errachidia (beautiful view of the lake and the dam) or Zouala for dinner and night:

  • ” Khettaras Oasis ” cottage or ” Auberge Tinit ” (in Errachidia) ” Zouala Cottage “, ” cottage in the palm grove “, ” House of the Ziz Valley ” or ” Auberge Sahara ” in the palm grove.

Accommodation:

  • • Cottage Khettaras Oasis Hotel or Tinit ( Errachidia ) or Zouala house or cottage in the palm or Ziz Valley in the palm grove.
  • Transfer to Derkaoua and departure by 4 × 4 to the bivouac in the North East of the dunes of Merzouga. Dinner and night in bivouac.
[/accordion_item] [accordion_item caption=”Third day: the longest oasis in the world “] From Errachidia or cottages, minibus to Amelkis. Visit the Ksar and the big dam of traditional diversion (ouggoug)
– Walk through the oasis and along to séguias to ksar Ouled Chaker (three hours) or directly to the “Cottage in the palm grove.” Palm varieties, cropping systems in the oasis.
Lunch at the “cottage in the palm grove.”
In the afternoon : minibus transfer to ksar Hakkou (explanation of water distribution system) visit while going through the door of Ksar El Maarka, then the minibus will take you to Erfoud. Visit the Ksar Maadid, luggage in hotels and visiting fossils craftsmen.
– Accommodation: Hotels and Inns in Erfoud. [/accordion_item] [accordion_item caption=”Fourth Day : Fossils, Ksours and Desert”]- Departure to the hotel and visit the fossil quarries of Boucharafine (one hour walk in the biggest fossil sites in the region, identification of some fossils of the Devonian period dating back to 350 million year, long before the dinosaurs) then we will visit the geological museum.
– Visit of Tafilelt Ksours namely : Ksar Ouirgane (potters), Tinrhas (Magnificent panoramic view) Zaouïa Sidi Ali, Ksar Adbdelhalim, by minibus. This circuit of about 20 km crosses the last palm grove of ziz basin (more dry and on the decline).
– Lunch in Rissani (Medfouna)
– Afternoon: a visit of Moulay Ali Cherif mausoleum then going to Derkaoua and departure towards the bivouac in the north east of Merzouga dunes.
– Diner and night in the bivouac. [/accordion_item] [accordion_item caption=”Fifth Day: Return to Ghris Valley, Khettaras and Fight against desertification”]In the Morning: we will cross Merzouga dunes riding camels (3 hours) until Hassi Labied where the minibuses are waiting for us. They will take you to Rissani (Ksar Al Fida and Mausoleum) then Hannabou where the desert overhang is reflected by the invasion of palm groves where we will observe the traditional protection works.

  • Lunch in Bouya Oasis or in Jorf (Cooperative) and a walk through the gardens that are exclusively by the khettaras.
  • The bus will take you to Fenza, then you will visit the monumental sculptures of the artists V.Hoth in Maghra Desert (Sky stairs), « Orion City » and « the Golden Spiral ». Those modern monuments of land art need to be visited (3 hours including the rides).
  • Accommodation : Diner and night in Tinejdad (EL Khorbate Hotel). Visit the restored Ksar and the very interesting Oasis museum.

  • Leaving El Khorbate hotel towards Tifounassine source (a walk of about one hour to visit the entire charming site, then go along the seguia to the big basin at the entrance of the oasis). Take the minibus to Igoulmimen Ksar, visit the ksar then a walk in the oasis (visit of oil mills). Meal in « The mill’s cottage » (traditional grain mill).
  • In the afternoon: the bus will take you to Tadighoust, a walk to the fish source and Mouy potters village.
  • Return across the oasis to « Chez Pauline » Inn. Take the bus to visit Al Magamane Cooperative (saffron, embroidery, traditional clothing, and soap made from dates and olive oil).
  • Meal and night in « Chez Pauline »

  • Departure early in the morning. The minibus will take you to Asfalaa Fossil village ((fossils from the Jurassic and Cretaceous, 150 to 200 million years ago before those of Erfoud) ;
  • Plenty of fish fossils and remains of dinosaurs). Then you will climb to Amellagou by Amsed gorges.
  • Visit Amellagou gorges by minibuses then departure to Fez by Mzizel, Er Rich and Midelt.
  • Arrival to Fez late in the afternoon.
